摘要： Essien focuses on a study which examines the nature of microaggressions documented by the parents of Black children. Using the lens of racial microaggressions, parents offered insights into the myriad of ways that Black children and their parents are exposed to experiences that pathologize their culture. In this particular study, three primary themes emerged. Parents reported experiences where they were assumed to be low-income, to come from homes with absent fathers, and to have an unstructured home environment. These messages were communicated to parents and their children by principals, front-office staff, teachers, and even other parents. A pervasive message expressed by these individuals was one that assumed a 'ghettoized culture'. This perceived culture was pathologized as being undesirable, deviant, and lesser than.

摘要： The logic of domains has become a key organizing principle for contemporary computing projects and in broader science policy. The logic parses collectives of expertise into 'domains' that are to be studied or engaged in order to inform computational advancements and/or interventions on the domains themselves. The concept of a domain is set against a proposition that there is a more general, domain independent or agnostic technique that can serve to intermediate the domains. This article contrasts instances of this discourse, organizing and techne, drawing from cases in artificial intelligence, software engineering, and science policy to illustrate three ongoing figurations of the logic as i) experimental research, ii) formalization in method and software tools, and iii) a de facto organizing principle for science policy and technology development. 摘要： Dr. Emily Lindemer credits her failures for putting her on the path she's on-from a bachelor's degree in computational neuroscience and computer science to a Ph.D. degree from a joint Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) program and then a dual career as a scientist in imaging analytics at IBM Watson Health and an entrepreneur and founder of Hey ,Charlie, an app to aid in addiction recovery. In fact, she values her failures so much that, when defending her Ph.D. dissertation, she included a curriculum vitae of the failures and rejections she'd experienced. "It was important to me that people understand that this body of work that encompassed the previous four years of my life was a result of a million things that didn't work out along the way," she explains.

摘要： In recent years, industry and academia have made tremendous research attempts to implement quantum computing technologies. But quantum computing is still grounded by numerous critical barriers, leading to its low accessibility and practicality. To overcome this problem, we propose an end-to-end framework for mapping computationally hard problems on a quantum computer via reduction.

摘要： The primary aim of Revenue Management (RM) is selling the right product to the right customer at the right time for the right price. Ever since the deregulation of airline industry in the USA, and the emergence of the internet as a distribution channel, RM has come of age and is a topic of importance in tourism, hospitality and services management (Yeoman and McMahon-Beattie 2017). Right at the heart of RM are algorithms. In mathematics and computer science, an algorithm is an unambiguous specification of how to solve a class of problems. Algorithms can perform calculation, data processing, automated reasoning, and other tasks. The concept of algorithm has existed for centuries. Greek mathematicians used algorithms in the sieve of Eratosthenes for finding prime numbers, and the Euclidean algorithm for finding the greatest common divisor of two numbers (Cooke 2014).

摘要： As a driver in modern science, interdisciplinary research has attracted a lot of attention. Major foci are laid on exploring the relations of multiple involved disciplines as well as the knowledge structure in interdisciplinary field. However, there is still a lack of decomposing the knowledge structure of interdisciplinary field to investigate how knowledge from relevant disciplines is integrated in the field. This study proposes an approach to investigating knowledge integration relationships between two research fields from a perspective of hierarchy. Medical Informatics (MI) and its most relevant field of Computer Science (CS) are chosen in the case study. This study decomposed each keyword network of the two fields into four layers by using the K-core method, then quantified the knowledge integration relationships between different layers of the two fields together. The results present that the MI basic layer shows the strongest knowledge integration with CS, followed by the middle layer, with the detail layer the weakest. And all MI layers have the greatest breadth and strength of knowledge integration with the CS middle layer, followed by the CS marginal layer and detail layer, but with the CS basic layer the weakest. A time series analysis shows that the integration of new CS knowledge into MI is a gradual process without explosive growth and the path of knowledge integration between the two fields were identified. The proposed approach could be applied to deeply understanding the integration of one discipline knowledge by an interdisciplinary field.

摘要： Short-term outreach interventions are conducted to raise young students' awareness of the computer science (CS) field. Typically, these interventions are targeted at K-12 students, attempting to encourage them to study CS in higher education. This study is based on a series of extra-curricular outreach events that introduced students to the discipline of computing, nurturing creative computational thinking through problem solving and game programming. To assess the long-term impact of this campaign, the participants were contacted and interviewed two to five years after they had attended an outreach event. We studied how participating in the outreach program affected the students' perceptions of CS as a field and, more importantly, how it affected their educational choices. We found that the outreach program generally had a positive effect on the students' educational choices. The most prominent finding was that students who already possessed a "maintained situational interest" in CS found that the event strengthened their confidence in studying CS. However, many students were not affected by attending the program, but their perceptions of CS did change. Our results emphasize the need to provide continuing possibilities for interested students to experiment with computing-related activities and hence maintain their emerging individual interests.

摘要： It is widely believed that there are educational benefits to making computer games, but there is no systematic review of research on this topic. This article describes a meta-synthesis of research on children designing and programming computer games that investigates the extent to which there is evidence of benefits for computer science learning and motivation. Over 400 articles were identified, and 68 articles met the inclusion criteria. A systematic analysis and synthesis across studies showed some evidence that computer game design and programming can lead to changes in programming knowledge, problem solving, and computer science attitudes and confidence. However, most of the evidence described engagement in computing-related practices and did not measure learning. The findings were mostly positive, although several studies noted more negative attitudes toward programming after making games. The results were similar across different pedagogical approaches, although social interaction may provide unique opportunities for computer science learning. The synthesis resulted in a list of design elements for studying computer game design and programming activities; these can be used to increase the availability of evidence about learning. The article concludes with the identification of gaps in the research and suggestions for additional research.

摘要： Educational Technology Leaders' support of computer science teachers in K-5 classrooms are influenced by their beliefs about school-based program implementation criteria, available district-level support, and state mandates on the integration of computer science. The researcher in this study examines the beliefs about Computer Science teacher support, and training in five different Educational Tech Leaders' districts, to determine sustainable implementation practices for K-5 schools. In order to effectively integrate computer science in K-5 instruction, administrators and program decision-makers must be aware of the beliefs Educational Technology Leaders hold related to the implementation process of programs, specifically related to the training of K-5 teachers who facilitate the computer science curricula in classrooms. Information reported in this study may inform school-level, district-level, and state-level decisions related to sustainable computer science program implementations.
